May, Fruit?

Hi there!  Here are some new
fruit studies. I call them that because they are quickly done, usually within an hour, and I'm actually "studying" to see how the light plays with the colors, and my favorite things, the shadows, and the reflections.

Sometimes I come back the next day and add a little here or there if I think it would make it better.

I'm finding that I'm getting back to using the paint more loosely. For a while I started to get too tight, trying to be "more perfect". That is never satisfying, in any art, whether it be painting, dressage, housework, dance or life.  I'm only showing the ones that I'm pleased with.

Along the way I've discovered a wonderful thing. If you don't really, really like something that you did, Paint it Out, and do something else. That is an amazingly freeing concept!

I used to think I had to keep everything I'd done, but no more!  You might Xray that teapot and find an artichoke under it....

Back to work,
See you in a while! ~ Paula
