Spring, time of newness.

The first plants to bloom in the spring are the bright yellow ones, Forsythia, then the fruit trees, and the daffodils. We had a surprise snowstorm of about 5 inches. The horses love to play wildly after the sun comes out in the powdery snow and the cold.

I've finally found the energy I was looking for. It's a sense of inner power, that goes beyond just getting the work done, or happily creating something. It's a feeling that wakes me up in the morning "work" it says, "explore the world with the paint and the brush for now... do it!"

This rise of the energy may of been spurred by the economy. I'm choosing to not participate in the recession, but times are not real great for most artists, people are not easily parting with their money for things that seem like luxuries.

Is art a luxury? Personally, as an artist, I feel that art is up there with things a person needs for the soul. After food and shelter, art stands next to lovely clothing and beautiful meals. If you find something you relate to, that makes you feel, something, hopefully something good and uplifting-  it's not a luxury, it supports your well-being.

If people stop spending their money on art, or extras,  they risk losing their artists, as well as the other small businesses that make our world so interesting.

So, with that in mind... I've been painting. Whatever comes into my
mind, or the view in front of my easel. Small, 8 x 10" oil paintings, because oil paint is my favorite painting medium. I'm loving it and hope you will too.

These are unframed paintings, that I'm offering at $100, because they
are small pieces that are actually studies, done solely for my own happiness. Once they are finished, I can't keep them all, I'm putting them out for you to enjoy.

Back to work.
See you in a while!- Paula
