A Studio Visit Recently I had the good fortune to be visited by the wonderful photographer Eric Swanson, who does portraits, for famous and highly esteemed personages, as well as interiors for hotels, cuisine for cookbooks and restaurants, landscapes, and artist's studios. Follow this link to see my studio through his eyes... Eric is a professional photographer living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His blog, "touching the shutter" is an ongoing collection of photographs of artists and their studios. You can see more of his work at eric swanson.com. The photo to the left is of myself... seated on a large cat from a series I created with my partner Tom, marketed by SportRock Intl. called Park Pets. To the left is the cat portrait I finished for the dear fellow who made the winning bid on my donation of an animal portrait for the Furr Ball, fundraiser for cats in Los Angeles earlier this year. Her name is Pixie, he sent me some photos of her, and said that she liked red best when asked what her favorite color might be. So she has a red bowl. Living my life as art, not necessarily living my life to create artwork is a way of being that suits me, although it, actual artwork, may go and come in waves. I'm dedicating quite a bit of time to developing my own skill as a horseman, and helping others find that wonderful sense of calm and excellance as well. Recently I received a commission to create a large Fox in ferro-cement, a medium I haven't visited for many years. I'm excited to begin working on the preliminary sketches of it. Ferro Cement is a way to make one- of a-kind pieces that will hold up outside. I have two in my own garden that have been around for over 25 years. The San Luis Obispo City County Library owns the "Stoic Horse", which if kept indoors, as it has been since they purchased it, will last indefinitely. My other half, Tom Reno,is showing his beautiful new abstract paintings, very different from my work, but you may enjoy it, or know someone else who would like to see it. www.Tom Scott Reno.com. If you know of anyone else that might enjoy my artwork, please, pass the link to this website along to them for me. Check out the paintings and sculptures that are for sale on the other pages of this website, along with the notecards in the "Gift Shop". Any inquires and or purchases are warmly and thankfully accepted! That's all for now, have a great summer see you in a while! ~ Paula Feedback? Any Questions? click here!
