     This image was part of a series I called the "Cat and Bowl Series,
   A Non-Serious Investigation into the Art of Listening. "

  So what might a cat and a bowl and a bundle of sage have to do with listening?
   Being empty is about the idea of a calm and quiet mind and an open mind.
   And the smoke from the sage, when it is burned, is actually a ritual item used by
   many of the First Nation people to symbolize cleansing of the body spirit and mind
   of any negativity. So this painting is not just about a happy cat, it's about what is
needed to reach that state.
