Pears and apples are my favorite fruits to paint. They are                so simple and expressive. This beauty, on a deep blue                plate was too wonderful to pass up.                This one was painted on a piece of 100% cotton museum                quality board that was coated with gesso, (essentially                a primer coating that protects the cotton fibers from the oil                in the paint. ) There is a 1/4" border, and the  slightly rough                edges of the paint can be seen. It will probably have to be                fitted with a custom frame.
