Artichokes are surprisingly difficult to paint. I never thought I'd say something like that! I've taught people to draw over the years, and one of my favorite sayings is that nothing is harder to draw than anything else. It's because an artichoke has a lot of detail, and to make the drawing or painting resemble an artichoke you have to pay close attention to the shapes and how they relate to each other. A little known fact is that an artichoke will dry up, right before your eyes as you work, so you must move fast. | |||||
